Caribbean Uncovered Privacy Policy

Looking for a hot Caribbean getaway in February? Well, it doesn’t get much better than these Caribbean islands!

While it’s still cold and snowy in many parts of the world, February brings all the sunshine and warm weather to the Caribbean. I should know – the Caribbean in February is one of my favorite times. I’ve visited many islands in February, from Grand Cayman to Puerto Rico and beyond.

I honestly think you could just close your eyes and point to an island on the map, and you’d have an epic time in February. The waters are warm, the sun is shining, and the vibes are just right for a perfect vacation.

Below, I’ve included all the best islands to visit in February, including the average temperatures and why February is the perfect time to go.

By the end of it, I’m sure your must-visit list will have grown, but one thing’s for sure, you can’t go wrong with any of these 17 Caribbean islands.

Let’s jump in!

After exploring most of the Caribbean at different times of the year, February has become one of my favorites.

The rainy season has passed, and all the Christmas and New Year guests have headed home, making it a little shoulder season (though, not price-wise!), perfect if you’re looking to get away from the crowds and enjoy the islands at a more relaxed pace.

Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s with your honey, or drinking away the winter blues with your friends, these Caribbean islands have something for everyone in February!

1. Turks and Caicos

Grace Bay Beach in Turks and Caicos

Turks and Caicos is one of my favorite islands, and in February, it shines even brighter. As humpback season is in full swing, you can watch the majestic whales swim by while sipping on a cocktail.

Kayaking through the mangroves is also a must-do activity. As the rainy season has just passed and the waters are still calm, you’ll spot loads of turtles and other marine life.

And in my opinion, I think the weather is one of the best in all of the Caribbean in February, making it absolutely perfect for lounging on Grace Bay Beach without melting.

2. Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao

If you’re looking to do a little island hopping in February, head to the south of the Caribbean to these gorgeous ABC islands.

Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao are known for their crystal clear blue waters and white sandy beaches, as well as a variety of water activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, and kiteboarding.

Curacao is also well-known for its incredible hiking. Bonaire for its shore-diving, and Aruba for its desert exploration jeep tours.

The islands all offer something a little different. Aruba being the most popular and developed, with a bustling nightlife and vibrant culture. Bonaire is a divers paradise, with some of the best shore diving spots in the world due to its protected marine park. Curacao is known for its colorful architecture and rich history.

3. St Thomas and St John US Virgin Islands

For one of the best tropical vacations in February, then look no further than the US Virgin Islands, specifically St Thomas and St John.

These two islands are located just a short ferry ride away from each other and are some of the most dreamy islands in the Caribbean. In fact, they were the very first two Caribbean islands I’ve ever visited.

In February, the weather in these islands is simply idyllic, with average high temperatures reaching 83°F and an average rainfall of only 2 inches for the whole month.

That means plenty of sunshine, making it the perfect time to hike through the stunning Virgin Islands National Park, which covers about 60% of the island of St John. You can snorkel, hike, relax at the beaches, and take advantage of duty-free shopping on both islands.

4. Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is always a good idea, and it’s one of the cheapest islands to visit in February. Sounds like a win-win. You can find some amazing flight deals heading to San Juan from most major cities in February.

If you want a little bit of beach and a little bit of adventure, then PR is the best Caribbean destination in February.

One of my favorite things to do in Puerto Rico is to visit El Yunque Rainforest. This tropical paradise offers hiking trails for all levels, including the popular La Mina Falls trail, where you can cool off in the beautiful waterfall.

I’ve also traveled off the regular trails here and found some absolutely incredible oases. Don’t underestimate this rainforest! It’s a can’t-miss in Puerto Rico. Plus, when it’s hot during the July-August months, the rain is quite enjoyable.

    5. St Lucia

    Pitons in St lucia

St Lucia is one of the hottest Caribbean Islands in February. It’s also the beginning of the dry season, so it’s the perfect time to visit and enjoy all the greenery without getting wet.

The rainforest makes up a large part of St Lucia, so in general, it’s a rainier island – especially in the heavy storm months of September and October.

St Lucia is a land and sea dream. As soon as you get into the rainforest, it’s like you are in a whole new world. You can hike the Piton Mountains, explore volcanic beaches, and take a dip in the famous Sulphur Springs.

A must-do in February is to hike to the summit of Gros Piton, one of the island’s most iconic landmarks. It’s even a UNESCO site.

The challenging (but totally doable!) hike offers stunning views of the surrounding lush landscape and the Caribbean Sea. You need a guide to visit, so you’ll be safe the whole way!

    6. Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

The Cayman Islands have become one of my favorite Caribbean islands over the years, so pretty much anytime is the best time to visit, in my opinion. But February does have some advantages, specifically for those who love to snorkel or scuba dive.

I’ve been to Grand Cayman in February – I’d been told that is was one of the best months for visibility in the waters surrounding the island – they weren’t wrong! The visibility onshore and offshore was incredible.

The water was warm and perfect for swimming with stingrays at Stingray City! We also made a stop at Starfish Beach and a reef nearby. I’m not sure how deep the water was, but I could see rays and turtles swimming all the way down on the ocean floor!

Grand Cayman is a luxury island that you won’t want to miss – especially in the early months! There are so many things to do and places to go; you’ll be itching to go back even before you leave.

    7. Jamaica

For a tropical destination that has it all, look no further than Jamaica in February. This island is the perfect escape from winter weather. And it’s also Reggae month as the island celebrates Bob Marley’s birthday.

So you know February is poppin’ with locals and tourists enjoying the music, culture, and delicious food.

But despite the energy of reggae month, you can also have a peaceful and secluded getaway in Jamaica.

Two must-do eco-friendly activities in February are hiking along the river in Blue Hole to reach the waterfall and heading to the Luminous Lagoon. With some pretty humid days, a swim in the waterfall will be exactly what you need to cool off and refresh.

    8. British Virgin Islands

A serene beach scene with clear turquoise waters gently lapping against a sandy shore, where visitors are scattered and enjoying the sun. Large, weathered boulders rise from the landscape, adding a rugged contrast to the tranquil tropical setting.

The gorgeous British Virgin Islands are the perfect islands to visit in February, but they can be expensive. With sunny days in the 70s it’s no surprise it’s one of the most popular places to visit in the Caribbean during February.

The waters are calm and clear, ideal for sailing and snorkeling. And with the amount of stunning beaches, you’ll find yourself in paradise every day. BVI is a quick ferry ride from St Thomas and St John, so it’s also great for a day or weekend trip from the US Virgin Islands.

But keep in mind that February falls within the peak tourist season, so you’ll have to plan early and expect higher prices.

    9. St Croix US Virgin Islands

    • Average rainfall in February: 2.5 inches
    • Average high: 82°F
    • Where to Stay: Buccaneer Beach and Golf Resort
    • What to do in February: Buck Island Reef National Park Tour

If you want to get involved in the local culture, then St Croix, US Virgin Islands, is the best tropical place to visit in February. The island is at its driest, which means outdoor festivals and celebrations are in full swing.

Head to Frederiksted Pier for some fantastic snorkeling among coral reefs (pro tip: if you’re a diver, the BEST time to go is at night, crazy right?!) or take a tour to Buck Island Reef National Park – my absolute favorite thing to do in St Croix.

The coral reefs at Buck Island are next to none – I’ve truly never seen anything like it. Buck Island is also home to Turtle Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen in the world. And, the water in February is perfect for swimming!

If you prefer more land activities, hike to the Annaly Bay Tide Pools or watch the sunrise at Point Udall.

Or simply relax on one of St Croix’s many beautiful beaches, such as Cane Bay or Rainbow Beach.

    10. Belize

Belize has become a hot destination over the years, especially Caye Caulker. The tiny island is full of families, backpackers, and couples who are all looking for a laid-back Caribbean adventure.

One of the most popular activities in February is to grab your scuba tank or snorkeling gear and explore the underwater world of Belize. And it’s magical.

Out of all the places I’ve scuba and snorkeled, I’ve never seen anything quite like Belize’s reef system, which is the largest in the Western Hemisphere.

    11. Punta Cana Dominican Republic

If you want that relaxing vacation the Caribbean alludes to, Punta Cana in the early months of January or February is an absolute must. The waters are warm and the weather is sunny, giving you the perfect excuse for lying on a beach chair and reading a book.

I love the Dominican for a family vacation in February. Because the water is gentle and the beaches stretch for miles, it’s an excellent spot for kids.

You can jump on jet skis or ATVs, go parasailing, or just have a family day on the beach. It’s easy to get around, so you can explore much of the city together while making some epic memories.

    12. St Kitts and Nevis

February still falls under the new year for me, and what better way to keep your goals of staying active than St Kitts and Nevis? February is excellent for hiking, biking, or even ziplining through the rainforest.

Staying on Nevis is perfect if you want to escape the tourist crowds and enjoy a more relaxed island experience. And if you do want to venture out, there are plenty of activities to choose from, such as snorkeling, scuba diving, or just lounging on one of their beautiful beaches.

    13. St Barts

    • Average rainfall in February: 1.8 inches
    • Average high: 84°F
    • Where to Stay: Christopher Hotel
    • What to do in February: Hike to the “Washing Machine” natural pools

If you’re feeling fancy, hop on a flight to St. Barts for one of the best tropical destinations in February. St. Barts is one of the most luxurious Caribbean islands, with stunning beaches and high-end resorts.

But don’t let that intimidate you from visiting this beautiful island. February is the perfect time to visit as the weather is sunny and warm, making it perfect for swimming in their crystal-clear waters or hiking through the unique landscapes.

It also seems to be every French person’s winter escape, so say bonjour and have a croissant for me!

    14. Cuba

    • Average rainfall in February: 1.8 inches
    • Average high: 81°F
    • Where to Stay: La Reserva in Havana
    • What to do in February: Take a food and cultural tour

Cuba often gets a bad rap, but it’s a beautiful country rich in culture and history. February is the perfect time to visit as it falls right between the peak season of December-April and the rainy season of May-October.

Spend your time exploring Havana or relaxing on one of its stunning beaches without having a heat stroke. It’s also one of the cheapest Caribbean islands to visit in February.

Have a mojito for a few dollars and enjoy delicious authentic Cuban food without breaking the bank.

    15. Anguilla

For a tropical retreat in February, head to Anguilla. While the Caribbean islands are in the height of their busy season, Anguilla is almost never overcrowded. With gorgeous Anguilla weather February is perfect for enjoying the island’s untouched beaches and clear turquoise waters.

Anguilla is a lot less touristy than some of the other islands on this list, and it will have you falling in love with its laid-back vibes. In February, the currents are calm, and the visibility is incredible, making snorkeling a must-do.

    16. St Maarten

St Thomas vs St Maarten / Overlook of St Maarten

February isn’t all about romance. Sometimes, you just need your girlfriends. Take a trip to St Maarten and enjoy the perfect balance of adventure, safety, relaxation, and an all-out nightlife scene.

The island is shared between France and the Netherlands, giving it a unique blend of European culture mixed with Caribbean vibes. Because of its diverse cutlure, St Martin is also known for its delicious cuisine, which you will not want to miss out on!

St Maarten has plenty of activities for you and your friends to enjoy in February, from shopping in Philipsburg to zip lining through the rainforest – it’s a great time to go.

And when the sun goes down, hit up the local bars and clubs for a night of dancing and fun.

    17. Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago is one of the hottest Caribbean destinations in February, and I don’t mean Paris Hilton “that’s hot” I mean, get the deepest tan of your life hot and possibly sweat through everything you own.

Perfect for summer lovers. The island boasts stunning beaches, lively festivals, and a vibrant local culture in February, and it’s awesome.

One of my favorite things is visiting the Nylon Natural Pool in Tobago. It’s a gorgeous Gatorade blue pool formed by coral rocks, and it’s great for swimming, snorkeling, or just lounging around.
